10 Down 14 More To Go

Okay that is just the days, but still it is a great accomplishment.  I have a renewed energy now that I have discovered eggs and veggies.  I love the quickness of sauteed veggies and an egg, even Jasmine loves them.  Thank goodness for the chickens.  I am starting the second phase of the 24 day challenge and I am looking forward to making myself a pizza!!!!

Even with all the crud the kids and Chris are eating, I haven't been too tempted to "cheat".  This is actually fun to think of how I am accomplishing this, now to get the kids and Chris on board.

Food Needed

I am getting kind of sick of chicken but I guess that is only my fault since I haven't got to the grocery store yet to stock up on food.  My most difficult weekend is coming up with a wedding on Saturday and a family dinner on Sunday.  I think I have a pretty good handle on what I can eat and how to avoid the other stuff.  I just finished dinner with my family and grilled corn on the cob.  I passed on the corn even though it smelled sooooo good, but that is on my State Fair food list of things to eat.

I am 4lbs down and feel better everyday so that is my motivation to keep going.  So good luck to me this weekend.

Day 2 of Advocare 24 Day Challenge

Things are looking up for me on this challenge.  I was able to down the fiber drink in 4 small shots and I believe that it is a mind game for me.  As long as I didn't look at the drink, I was able to drink it down.  I think tomorrow I am going to try and mix it with my SPARK energy drink.  I found out today that the SPARK drink has a slight fiber smell to it but taste really good.

The meal planning for me worked out better since I was out of the house most of the day with work and errands.  I was able to take my chocolate meal shake on the road with me and drink at my desk while working.  This is fabulous for me since that is what most of my work days will look like anyway, so I know that I can do that.  Once I got home, I wasn't starving like I am most days so I was able to take time and make myself a good chicken sandwich.  Even with the temptation of Pizza (Little Cesar) sitting in front of me for the rest of the family I was able to resist with with my strawberries, sandwhich, boiled egg and water.

I hit the road after lunch to shoe shop with Bug and took my SPARK with me on the fly.  This helped me keep my hands busy and stay off my temptation to snack at my folks house; where they always have cookies and other junk food.  Once back home, I still was starving or tempted to snack on the junk around the house and even got on the bike and took the kids down the road biking.  My arse hurts from my previous ride, so buying a comfortable bike seat might be a necessity.  Kids loved the ride and keeps everyone active.

It is Chris's birthday so of course we bought him a cake, but we didn't slice into it yet.  I am wondering what other sweets I can eat that might help with my sweet cravings?  I will have to look into that.  It was left over night for us which isn't usually bad but with meatloaf, pizza, fried chicken and other small servings laying around I knew that I was going to stick with my trusty Rotisserie chicken.  BUT do you know what happen when I went to make my salad?  I couldn't find the chicken...I looked everywhere for that large yellow Tupperware bowl of shredded chicken!!!!

So what happen to it?  I called my dear daughter up at her friends house, thinking she might have eaten some and left it somewhere (like her room which has happen before).  The nerve of Jasmine...she took the WHOLE container of chicken to her friends house!!!!  Grrrrr ;-)  Now I am out of my safe food here at the house.

So at 9:00 at night, after putting the kids to bed, I made a fabulous grilled chicken, steamed asparagus/red peppers (just sea salt and pepper w/ just a little EVOO) and sweet potato meal (steak for Chris, it is his B-day after all).  It took 10 minutes and it was better than the chicken salad I was planning to make anyway.  So I guess I owe Jasmine a thank you tomorrow.

End of Day One

If you are following me on my journey and are curious about the products I am talking about or what the challenge is all about, contact Erin Slaikeu at www.SlaikeuAdvocare.com

At the end of day one, I am not sure what to think other than this challenge has for sure made me think about what I am eating.  I enjoy the portion of this challenge that helps me with the vitamins that I know that I am missing out like Omega 3 and addition fiber that my old ways was lacking.

Drinking water is a bonus to this challenge because I have just starting getting into the habit of always having water cold and ready to drink.  So one down 23 more to go, Adios to day one.

3/4 fiber mix
1/2 Shake

2 lettuce wraps w/ 2.2 oz of rotisserie chicken w/o skin and bean sprouts

steamed broccoli
rotisserie chicken on the side

water 32 oz regular + 12 oz w/ SPARK + 32 oz water

First day of food was excellent considering I was home all day with all the temptations in this house.  I even made mini-meatloaves for the family with mash potatoes and didn't touch a single piece.

Day One -- morning

Here to the first morning of Day One of the Advocare Challenge, this is what I ate...

The fiber supplement drink, honestly it literally made me gag and I only made it through 3/4 of the amount before it jelled into some type of science experiment and I had to toss it.  Sorry Renee, I will be doing a 4 oz shot of it tomorrow I PROMISE!!!

I did go for a 20 minute walk up our hill road that was 1.5 miles and then came home and took Nick on a 30 min. bike ride through our wilderness terrain which use to be the old Schlomka property.  There were a few times I had to get off the bike to walk it up the hills because my legs were jello by then, but otherwise good I think.

Now I am working on the chocolate mocha breakfast shake, which is good but I think I am going to try another flavor next time, this one tastes a bit like a melted fudge bar to me.  It is mid morning here and I am taking advantage of the fruit that I have laying around here.  So for the first morning where I really don't have much going on it is going very well.

Pre Advocare 24-Day Challenge (NIGHT BEFORE)

The night before the start of the 24 Day Advocare Challenge is just the calm before the storm.  I am looking over the stuff that I need for tomorrow and double, triple checking that I have everything is exciting.  I hope this helps me be more prepared for tomorrow.

My expectations for this challenge are...
1.  increased energy
2.  increased stamina
3.  some body weight loss
4.  some body inches loss

I only say some because I don't want to be caught up in the numbers game, but at the same time I am ready for a change in me.  I have put myself on the back burner in the way of health for the past year and I have see my weight increase 8lbs since the last time I blogged here.  That is a bit disappointing considering I had lost 20+ lbs before and was ready to run 5Ks last summer and now I am feeling sluggish.

So I hope tomorrow is a good start and I will keep you informed how my progress is going.

Thanks Erin for getting me introduced to hopefully a fresh start.  Anyone interested in my journey or what Advocare is let me know and I can pass Erin's contact information along.
